I've been busy! I know most of you know what it is by now, but I still want to wait to unveil it. I've taken some pictures while painting, but I'm waiting to upload them until I'm done... because I have friends that read this site and I want to surprise them by dropping this on the table one weekend.

Psyker Battle Squad - Empire Flagellant Box

As soon as I saw the new imperial guard codex, I immediately fell in love with the psyker battle squad. I always have loved the more off-balance parts of the imperial guard, from abhumans, to psykers and techpriests. Sadly, most of these weren't very good in the old codex, except for ratlings. Now, Psykers are great, ratlings are great, and techpriests are quite decent(Base power-weapon is a nice bonus). I really cringed at the idea of buying three sanctioned psyker blisters though, especially as the models simply weren't varied much, but also because of the price. So I, as I'm sure a good few of you did, saw the BoLS article on Psyker Battle Squads. This clued me in to using the Empire Flagellant box to make psykers out of. Not only is it cheap($22 MSRP), but as opposed to the sanctioned psykers, you get a lot of bits that you wouldn't normally get in 40k, especially tons of close combat weapons. I actually assembled and painted these guys up about a month ago, but never got around to taking pictures. Well, I've yet to find pictures of flagellants as psykers online yet, so I figure I should be the first! I could have done a much better job on these guys, but for the work I put into them, I was quite pleased. I painted the full squad in a day(I've spent 5+ hours on a single nob before). Sadly, I hadn't started using greenstuff until after I did these guys up, otherwise I would have gone all out. Still, hopefully this will inspire people to use flagellants as psykers, and create some much better looking models than I have :)
