MK vs DC - Really?

By now you must have heard of Midway's new fighting game pitting Mortal Kombat characters against DC Comics Characters. I don't think anyone is sure of the projects actual name, but the official site is worldscollide.com, so for now lets assume that will be the game's name.

So what the hell is this? Can anyone see this actually being released as a good game? Let's start with the biggest glaring problem, has any game with DC Characters been worth playing? I may be a Marvel fanboy... but honestly now. Mortal Kombat is another poisoned franchise. When's the last time a decent MK game was released? Other than the fanboy thrill of imagining Subzero and Batman fighting (which I admit to being a pretty cool thought), how does this game in any way sound like a hit?

Then I start thinking about it more. One of the reasons I never got into DC Comics more is that the majority of them are too overpowered. That being said, the majority of Mortal Kombat characters are just your standard "Enhanced Ninja" type. Does this seem like a fair fight to you? Right away you can see that they are going to significantly power-down most of the DC Side. While Batman would translate real easily, how are they going to have Superman or Wonder Woman without making them... well... lame?

Finally, to top it all off, there are rumours that the gore and fatalities have been completely removed. Doesn't this take away a major aspect of why Mortal Kombat is so appealing in the first place? While I do understand DC doesn't want Scorpion to rip out Superman's spine, which just farther shows why this whole project is a bad idea.

But what do I know? Maybe Midway will pull some magic and make something that is fun to play, but I doubt it.

Taste the rainbow

I figure I should probably explain the current blog 'slogan' up there in the right hand corner. After showing a friend of mine the site the other night, the same friend who edited the few things I've written, he mentioned that I'm "marching into nerdom, head held high" (We're nerd friends, so it's ok!) He pointed out all the things I'm into, Video Games, Comic Books, Websites, Blogs, Game Reviewing, Table top games, etc.
"But I'm better than most nerds, I have a girlfriend!"
"You're a much different flavor nerd than I."
"Taste the rainbow..."

There you have it. How lame was that?
