Painting a Warlock

I had my first DnD game this weekend, and I picked up a Confrontation model to represent my Tiefling Warlock. I started painting him and decided to practice with my girlfriend's camera while I painted, so here's a small step by step.

First, some white primer.

Then I blocked on some colours to get a rough idea of what I wanted to paint. Some of these colours changed after I started painting them. Mechrite Red/Dark Flesh for the robes, Space Wolf Grey for the armour, and Kharloc Green for the helm.

Next I cleaned up the grey by taking my base colour and mixing in a little Astronomican Grey. Green was highlighted a bit by mixing some Rotting Flesh into the base colour and the Red got a little clean up with pure Mechrite Red

At this point, I started to work up the green on the head, and I brought it up through Rotting flesh to almost pure white. But I didn't like it. So I went over it with some Scorched Brown and a little Mechrite Red instead. I also worked on the armour a bit more, mixing more Astronomican Grey into my paint. I also picked out a few straps with Scorched Brown.

And the only back shot I took.

I also changed my mind on the sword, and decided that I'm going to do a black sword with a little green glow, so it was covered in black. I also picked out all the clasps and the sword hilt with Tausept Ochre. The pages of the book got a watered down Tausept Ochre as well. Right after this shot I painted the base black again.

Thats all for now. Not bad for under two hours work. Hopefully I can finish him before our next session.
